rollingstone: Today would have been Hunter S. Thompson’s 75th birthday.  Read an excerpt from his book ‘Fear & Loathing on the Campaign Trail,’ which was written about the 1972 presidential campaign and featured in the July 5, 1973 issue of Rolling Stone. Remind me to tell you about the time us RS editorial internship nerds went to a glam rock party at Columbia and two of my friends were geeking out about Hunter S. Thompson and they told that story about the time Hunter ripped a fire extinguisher off the wall at the Rolling Stone office and sprayed Jann down with it, so my buddy in turn thought it’d be hilarious to rip the fire extinguisher off the Columbia dorm room wall and spray the hallway down with it, and some chick in a silver leotard and red velvet cape got really mad and told him to GTFO. Moral of the story: Read Hunter S. Thompson; do not fuck with fire safety equipment on university grounds because it is technically a federal felony.
